The site targeted at backpackers but free to anyone will allow prospective buyers to search available vehicles well before they arrive in Australia, gather valuable information about buying and selling and connect existing owners with prospective buyers even before they have finished their big drive. Travellers Auto Barn managing director, Peter Burke was excited about the possibilities the site brings and looks forward to developing Cars4Backpackers (C4B) into a valuable tool for adventure minded self drive travellers coming to Australia.

Backpacker car dumping before fleeing country causes $600,000 parking, towing fees

MORE than $600,000 in parking fees and towing costs is owed on the dozens of cars that have been dumped at Sydney Airport.
But payment is unlikely to be made as those who abandoned the vehicles are usually backpackers who have tried to sell the car and then left it at the airport – where it can be unnoticed for months – as they leave the country.

BACKPACKERS are clogging busy streets and making themselves at home on the footpaths while they wait up to six weeks to sell their vans.
The world famous Kings Cross Car Market that operated since 1991 from the Kings Cross Car park is sadly no longer. The old Car market was an institution, a place where backpackers would arrive with the most amazing array of aussie automotive buckets you were ever likely to see in one place. Good cars, cheap cars, outrageously over-priced cars, cars full of camping gear and outdoor gadgetry, cars on their last legs, cars that entered and never left, vans, bloody Kombi Vans, 4×4′s, and lots of Ford Falcon Stationwagons.
