Hangover food from around the world.
Ya know if you google the word hangover, apart from the movie, all you come across is a million different ways to not get a hangover (funny enough none of them have the 100% guarantee that only one cure has- it’s called ‘dont drink). I honestly believe that it’s waste of a google page and the 100th of a MB that it uses to load that page, cause a hangover is half the reason why we drink. Serious, we would probably love it for a while but wouldn’t it seem a bit bizarre that for the good night we had the night before we didn’t have to suffer a little? Plus if we didn’t get a hangover people would drink a lot more (drinking could be the next smoking).
Like it or lump it (probably the latter) hangovers are not going anywhere and cures aren’t always bulletproof. Add to that we’re not gonna stop drinking cause of hangovers, so i’m gonna give you the next best thing- interesting facts about hangover food from around the World- cause thats food is always so much better.
China - After a few to many rice wines, the Chinese crave probably one of the more odd hangover foods. Plain rice boiled (no vinegar, spices nothing) with grated cheese melted on top. It sounds terrible, but knowing the Chinese theres always a reason why. The belief is that the rice expands in the stomach and absorbs the alcohol alot like what fat does, but is very digested and coming out the rear in a much shorter time, releasing it from your body. Add in the cheese as a laxative, and boom. Worth trying?
Russia - In Russia, after several neat vodkas that enjoy a good booze chow of Chopped Herring. From what I can gather this dish is a mixture of vinegar, herring fillets and eggs. The only logical thing I can think is by mixing these ingredients and eating the finished product, your gonna spew your guts out. They’re bloody hard people those Russians.
Cotesmore Way – this is a district of Parnell in Auckland. Lured by the smells, ushered in by the sea breeze inland to the area, KFC is a necessity on Hangover day in Cotesmore Way. That and the couch, a sleep and the taste of the colonol’s finest to comfort you.
UK – Its all about the Bacon! The classic English breakfast (or in New Zealand known as the ‘fry up’) is a healthy mix of Bacon, Eggs, Beans, Mushrooms, Sausages (and in certain parts its not unusal to throw a steak, tomato, hash brown, black budding, haggus and chips on it)This is my perfect hangover cure after I’ve had one too many ‘real’ ales. You got to give it the English on this one.
