South West

The South West region of Western Australia has vast landscapes perfect for outdoor activities and adventures! It has everything from stunning stretches of coast and towering mountain ranges.

Want to go on an eco-friendly adventure? It’s time to go on an electric quad bike adventure through the Margaret River’s Boranup Forest Trails with ECO ADVENTURES. It is a 3.5-hour drive from Perth to Boranup along the southwestern coastal roads of Western Australia. Their EcoBikes are custom, designed to ‘float’ over the National Park trails to reduce the impact on the environment. As they are electric and not petrol powered this is also an eco-friendly trait for the company.

There are more than 100 surf breaks on the South West of Western Australia, from powerful reef breaks to enjoyable beach breaks for beginners. So, if you are an avid surfer or want to learn to surf, there are plenty of locations to surf from. If you want to learn to surf, visit the Margaret River Surf School and get out amongst the clear waters and pristine beaches. It’s only a 15-minute drive away from Boranup. Margaret River is also home to the Margaret River Pro, an annual World Championship Tour event, so keep an eye out on competition dates to check out on your road trip adventure!

Golden Outback

The Golden Outback covers 54% of Western Australia, stretching from the red earth of Kennedy to the snow-white beaches of Esperance on the south coast. It is known as Road Trip Country, perfect for your campervan road trip with Travellers Autobarn.

Visit the slice of paradise called Woody Island, one of 105 islands off the coast of Esperance. It takes about an 8-hour drive to get to Esperance from Perth and then a 60-minute ferry ride with Woody Island Eco Tours across to Woody Island. Woody Island is an eco-friendly destination as they have composting toilets, water storage from rainwater, solar panel power (only use backup diesel generator less than 10% of the time), LED lighting, and much more. There are many eco activities on the island being walking trails, snorkelling, fishing and observing the flora and fauna.

If you are an avid golfer, the Nullarbor Links Golf Course is the experience for you! This is a unique way to explore the Western Australia Outback and coastline along the Nullarbor. It is an 18-hole par 72 golf course spanning 1,365 kilometres from Kalgoorlie to Ceduna in South Australia. There is even golfing equipment available for hire ate each tee.

Kalgoorlie is in the Eastern Goldfields region of the Golden Outback. The Kalgoorlie Boulder is Australia’s largest Outback City of more than 30,000 people. Visit the Kalgoorlie Visitor Centre and collect audio walk tour devices to learn about the town by foot. Doing this experience will support the local community and also teach you about the history of the town’s heritage buildings, museums and more.

It is a 2-hour drive from our Perth Branch to Fremantle B Shed, where you will take a 25-minute ferry ride across to Rottnest Island. Keep an eye out for the local Quokka’s that are located on the island, and you might be able to get an instagrammable selfie with them!

Explore one of Perth’s hidden gems, the Yanchep Lagoon. It is a 1-hour drive north from the Travellers Autobarn Perth Branch, a popular location for snorkelling, fishing and swimming. Just a 10-minute drive from the beach is the Yanchep National Park, where there are more eco-friendly activities to experience. If you are enjoying heights, then the Yanchep Treetops Adventure is for you! Glide across the 16 treetop ziplines and keep an eye out for any Western Grey Kangaroos. If you rather enjoy being underground, experience a guided cave tour and learn about the local ancient Aboriginal culture. To end the day camp at the Henry White Campground, which is within walking distance of the treetops and caves. The campground is suitable for campervans and tents with 22 campsites.
